Upon completing their 10th annual bike ride challenge in Autumn 2017, AV distributors, CIE, raised £10,000 for its chosen charities, including Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation and local charity, Maggie’s Cancer Support Centre Nottingham. CIE chose to recognise Maggie’s this year to recognise the work the Centre has done supporting members of the CIE team over the past two years.

CIE sales director, Steve Collin explains, “Two of our staff have unfortunately been diagnosed with cancer and have benefitted enormously from the incredible support of Maggie’s. So, for the 10th year of our annual cycle challenge we wanted to raise even more money in order to support this charity which we know at first hand is doing some truly great work for our friends and colleagues, and for our local community.”

How Maggie’s helps

Maggie’s is a care centre based in Nottingham, who provide emotional, psychological, social and practical support to anyone affected by cancer. They see between 60 and 100 people every day, and with over 15,000 visits in the last year alone, it’s clear to see that this centre is providing valued support to hundreds of families.

CIE said they were delighted to present a check for £5,000 to Maggie’s Support Centre earlier this month, and were lucky enough to take time out to visit the premises to see the work they do first-hand.

Centre manager, Kate Martin commented, “Fundraising is hugely important to us and we’re so grateful to CIE for recognising the support we’ve given to their colleagues. We are so grateful to CIE for raising this money for us and we will continue to provide the high level of support that we do.”

The challenge continues

In addition to the £10,000 raised in 2017, the CIE team have previously raised in excess of £30,000 for Cancer Research, The British Heart Foundation, Nottingham Saving Lives Helipad Appeal and local children’s charity Derby Kids’ Camp.

Eager to do more, this September CIE will again be taking on its annual challenge to cycle 500 miles through France in just three days. The team will be supported by professional audio manufacturers Inter-M, and hope to exceed their £10,000 fundraising target for their chosen charities.
