Optoma is targeting gamers with its latest projector launch, the Optoma GT1080Darbee.

Building on the success of the GT1080e, this new projector comes with a number of new features that will be especially useful to gamers. The biggest addition in an Enhanced Gaming Mode, which boasts a 16ms response time – allowing gamers to ensure they don’t miss out on any of the action due to latency.

While latency is an important focus for gamers, Optoma is also concentrating on getting the best image possible. To ensure that, the GT1080Darbee projector integrates DARBEE Visual Presence image enhancement technology. This technology should result in better clarity, depth, object separation and realism.

Inputs will also be something gamers will want to take advantage of. With many gamers owning more than one console, the GT1080Darbee is ideally suited to handling that situation. That’s because it includes two HDMI inputs, as well as a button for switching between inputs quickly. MHL connectivity has also been included as an added bonus, allowing users to wirelessly share content from their smartphones, tablets and Roku streaming stick.

The GT1080Darbee is the second Optoma projector to support Darbee technology, following the launch of the HD28DSE home entertainment projector. This time around the company has opted to concentrate on gamers with a 3,000-lumen model, although it is keen to highlight that the projector is still capable of playing TV shows, live sports and movies.

Featuring a short throw lens, the GT1080Darbee can be placed on a coffee table and project a 100in Full HD 1080p image on a flat surface or screen from just over a metre away. For added convenience, the GT1080Darbee comes complete with an integrated speaker that delivers 16W audio. An audio output is also included, enabling connection to external sound systems.
