Since 2011, JVC has been developing 4K projectors delivered by its ‘e-shift’ technology; this latest move marks an effort to stay right on tech trend following a relatively quiet time from the maker.
Looking to match the accelerating trend into the 4K and HDR era, JVC’s new family of D-ILA projectors (DLA-X9000, DLA-X7000 and DLA-X5000) are available in either black or white and will be available from November.
Improvements come in the form of a new high power lamp and further upgrades to JVC’s original ‘e-shift’ technology, a combination designed to deliver both high brightness and a high clarity 4K picture.
JVC says the projectors demonstrate the highest brightness in their price range (between £8,500 and £4,000) delivered by redesigned new high power lamp.
The JVC D-ILA imaging device has a narrow pixel gap to give high light efficiency and a smooth picture which works in partnership with the new lamp to produce images that JVC says produces powerful images with greatly increased brightness compared to the current X900R, X700Rand X500R series models.
Improvements on new models break down into DLA-X9000 1,900lm (+46%), DLA-X7000 1,800lm (+38%), DLA-X5000 1,700lm (+30%) on currently family.
JVC says these improvements boost performance for larger screens and for when ambient light is an issue.
JVC has always been very proud of its native contrast ratio, setting industry records with several of its previous releases.
This time around is no different, claims JVC as the DLA-X9000 offers a native contrast ratio of 150,000:1.
This is achieved by combining a new optical engine optimised for usage with the JVC D-ILA device and the high power lamp, plus JVC’s user-selectable Intelligent Lens Aperture to further boost contrast.
The other buzz tech currently, HDR (High Dynamic Range) is also supported, created to produce a larger range between the brightest whites and darkest blacks and wider colour gamut.
JVC says the combination of high brightness lamp and its inherent high native contrast capability means the new JVC projectors can simultaneously reproduce highlights and detail in dark scenes, which are superior to conventional projectors.
Next Gen Compatible
With the current expansion of 4K content across different platforms and the next generation Blu-ray soon to be released, JVC has incorporated the latest HDMI/HDCP2.2 standard.
Both HDMI inputs will be compatible so two 4K copy protection products can be connected directly.
These latest HDMI inputs will be capable of handling data transfer rate up to 18Gbps, which can deliver full spec native 4K signals such as4K60p 4:4:4, 4K60p 4:2:2/36bit and 4K24p 4:4:4/36bit.
JVC’s ;e-shift’ technology was created to give 4K resolution (3840×2160) images by shifting each pixel diagonally 0.5pixels to multiply the resolution across HD images.

MultiplePixel Control is another JVC original technology which was created to improve performance.
It is part of Super Resolution technology created with a unique JVC algorithm.
MultiplePixel Control employs a newly designed algorithm which will realise the ideal performance suitable for each scene.
By selecting the Auto mode, JVC says natural and expressive 4K images can be enjoyed without any complicated picture adjustments.
The new JVC projectors also include blur reduction technology ‘Clear Motion Drive’ seen on previous models, but this time combined with a new addition called ‘Motion Enhance’.
This combination aims to minimise the motion blurs significantly by optimising the drive of the D-ILA device.
Importantly it is also compatible for 4K and 3D signals, to give smooth and detailed image for a variety of images.
JVC also reports that it is in the process of applying for THX 3D Certification (DLA-X9000, DLA-X7000), a process that it assures means official recognition of strong performance all round including 2D performance.
A handy function for installers comes with the Auto Calibration Function, which can calibrate the various pictures under various environments automatically, by using a third party optical sensor available widely in the market.
As a result, the picture performance will become optimum for the viewing environment.
Other key features include a ‘Film-like’ image using JVC’s Real Colour Imaging Technology (DLA-X9000, DLA-X7000), axis colour management equipped on all models and a 12 point manual gamma adjustment function inside the JVC calibration software.
Increased screen compatibility for Screen Adjust Mode optimises the colour differences caused by different screen materials.
Optional trappings for the range include optional 3D accessories, RF emitter PK, EM2 and RF glasses PK and there will be new spare lamp PK‐L2615U dedicated for the new line-up.
